Cast Molded End Tanks
The original intercooler's limited size means that when driving under continuous high loads on the track or mountain roads,
intake air temperatures quickly rise, and after the engine's protection mechanism intervenes, power significantly declines—
this is what's commonly known as "heat soak."
AutoScience Studio's original intercooler is specifically designed for the fourth-generation Focus ST's
limited space behind the bumper, utilizing a step core structure.
This maximizes the intercooler's size and cooling efficiency without modifying the vehicle's body.
The core tapers from 85mm down to 35mm, significantly increasing overall capacity,
and the frontal area is also noticeably larger, maximizing the use of incoming airflow for heat dissipation.
The front and rear end tanks are made using a cast molding process, allowing for more precise airflow guidance.
Compared to welded end cap designs, this structure is more robust and offers better sealing.
